The long-awaited fourth installment of the "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise, entitled "Axel F," is finally coming to Netflix in 2024. Eddie Murphy will reprise his iconic role as Detective Axel Foley, who returns to Beverly Hills to investigate a case involving the murder of his childhood friend.
Joining Murphy in the cast are Taylour Paige ("Zola"), Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("Inception"), Kevin Bacon ("Mystic River"), Judge Reinhold (the original "Beverly Hills Cop" trilogy), and Paul Reiser ("Stranger Things"). The film is directed by Mark Molloy, making his feature directorial debut.
Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for "Axel F," but it is expected to hit the streaming service sometime in the summer of 2024. A trailer for the film is also expected to be released in the coming months.
"Beverly Hills Cop" fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of "Axel F" for years. The original film, which was released in 1984, was a massive critical and commercial success, and it launched Murphy's film career. The sequels, however, have been less well-received. "Axel F" is hoping to recapture the magic of the original film and bring the franchise back to its former glory.
